MI were without Rohit Sharma who is recovering from his hamstring injury and Keiron Pollard led the side for the 3rd game in a row. Pollard won the toss and allowed RCB to bat first. RCB started well with Devdutt Padikkal and Josh Phillippe who came in place of Aaron Finch. Padikkal played a brilliant knock of 74 runs from 45 balls to register his 4th fifty of the tournament.

However, the performance was overshadowed by Jasprit Bumrah who bowled a maiden wicket over to dismiss Virat Kohli for 9 runs. Ab de Villiers also could not get going and was out for 15 runs. The lower order of RCB tried their best to push RCB to a good looking total. But MI’s sharp bowling attack restricted RCB to 164/6 after 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians became the first team in IPL 2020 to win 8 matches in IPL 2020 with the 5 wicket victory over RCB. Suryakumar Yadav played a superb knock and showcased his talent yet again with an unbeaten 79 runs knock in the run-chase.

Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan played 18 and 25 runs innings after getting out. Saurabh Tiwari included in place of Rohit Sharma could only make 5 runs as he got out by Mohammad Siraj. Yadav struck to his plans and took the run-chase deep with Krunal and Hardik Pandya. With 16 runs required in the final two overs, Pollard and Yadav achieved the target easily in the final over. MI won the match with 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

MI moves to the top of the IPL 2020 points table with 8 wins and 4 losses in 12 games of the tournament. However, with 48 out of 56 matches completed in the tournament, we are yet to get our first team to qualify in the playoffs. Even though MI have 16 points, they will depend on the next game of CSK vs KKR result to qualify for the playoffs. MI needs CSK to beat KKR in tomorrow’s game to become the first team to qualify in playoffs.

RCB remain in the second spot with 7 wins and 5 losses in IPL 2020. They are equal on 14 points with Delhi Capitals who are in 3rd place.
