The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli had a horrible day on the field in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Thursday.

Virat dropped two catches of KL Rahul who went on to blast with his blistering knock of 132 runs – the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the IPL history. With the bat, Kohli fell for just 1 run as he top-edged a short ball from Sheldon Cottrell to be caught.

Meanwhile, the poor performance from the captain has resulted in some huge controversy. The former India captain Sunil Gavaskar made a statement while he was on commentary duties. When the ‘Run Machine’ was dismissed, Gavaskar came up with a surprising comment which involves Virat and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. He said that Virat has only trained against Anushka’s ball during the lockdown.

Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hain,” said the reputed commentator.

The comment didn’t go down well with many people on social media as they urging the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to drop him from commentary job. While he didn’t mean any disrespect for the captain and his wife, some are saying that his comments was highly personal and double meaning.

KL Rahul’s blistering knock helps KXIP to beat RCB

KL Rahul

Rahul led from the front to make a blistering comeback for Kings Eleven Punjab in IPL 2020. The skipper made a mockery of RCB’s lacklustre bowling line-up as he notched the highest ever score by an Indian in IPL history. The skipper hit 14 fours and 7 sixes en route to an unbeaten 132 off 69 balls. His knock powered his side to a mammoth 206-run total in the first innings.

KXIP openers, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal made a strong start to the innings, having gone past the 50-run mark in just 6 overs. Falling short of option, Virat Kohli, once again, turned to Yuzvendra Chahal and the latter obliged immediately. The leggie got ride of Mayank with a googly in his first over. Shivam Dube later accounted for the wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell and helped RCB pull the game back a bit.

However, the unstoppable KL Rahul unleashed himself in the final few overs to take the side where they wanted to. He smacked Dale Steyn for 3 sixes and 2 fours in the nineteenth over, followed by two sixes and two fours in the 20th over.
