IPL 2020 RR vs SRH: Sunrisers bounce back in the tournament after 8 wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals

Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020

Dubai International stadium hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match no. 40 of Dream11 IPL 2020. SRH after losing 3 games in a row bounced back and defeated RR by 8 wickets thanks to Manish Pandey’s fantastic half-century.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first, and continued with the similar opening pair of Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes. Uthappa was run-out in the third over by Jason Holder who was playing his first match for SRH in the tournament.

Sanju Samson joined Stokes and the duo added a 50 run partnership before Stokes was dismissed by Rashid Khan for 30 runs. Sanju Samson was clean bowled by Jason Holder’s slower one but played a good-looking knock of 36 runs with 3 fours and 1 six.

Jos Buttler’s crucial wicket was taken by Vijay Shankar in the 16th over. Riyan Parag hard-hitting knock added a quick 20 runs in 12 balls before getting out to Holder. Jofra Archer helped finish the RR innings with 16 runs as RR made 154/6.

 Holder impressed with his bowling figures of 4-0-33-3 taking while Rashid Khan and Vijay Shankar took one wicket each.

Jofra Archer was on fire with the ball in the batting powerplay and took the only two wickets for RR. David Warner edged a catch in the slips and was furious after getting out. Archer bowled Jonny Bairstow with a 149 kmph delivery which baffled the Englishman.  SRH were reduced to 16/2 within the three over.

However, Manish Pandey showcased his talent with a wonderful unbeaten knock of 82 runs with 8 sixes and 4 boundaries. Vijay Shankar played an excellent supporting inning of 52 runs in 51 balls as SRH completed the run-chase with 11 balls to spare. Pandey played aggressive shots right from the start while Shankar played a relatively slower part. This is also the very first Century partnership between Indian players for SRH.

SRH bounce back after losing three games in a row in IPL 2020 including the super over against KKR. They move to fifth position with 4 wins in 10 games. RR on the other hand will have a tough path to qualifying for the playoffs of the tournament. RR have won 4 games while lost 11 games in the tournament so far. They will have to win the remaining matches and hope that other results go in their favor.
