Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) pulled off a remarkable comeback to win a thriller against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and secured a big boost to their hopes of making it to the playoffs. The game seemed to be going SRH’s way right from the very beginning when skipper David Warner won the toss and chose to field first.

KXIP lost Mandeep Singh early in their innings but tried to rebuild with KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. But the duo perished in quick succession to leave their side in big trouble. The likes of Glenn Maxwell and Deepak Hooda couldn’t get going as well. In the end, KXIP could only muster 126 runs on the board.

In the chase, SRH got off to an explosive start courtesy their openers. Following their departure, there was a bit of a wobble in the middle but SRH seemed set and ready to chase the target down courtesy patient knocks from Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar. However, towards the end of the innings, SRH imploded and fell apart like a pack of cards losing their last 7 wickets for just 14 runs to hand KXIP a crucial win.
