Delhi Capitals finally snapped out of their four-game losing streak to grab the second spot in IPL 2020 points table. DC thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets last night riding on half-centuries from in-form Shikhar Dhawan and an underfire Ajinkya Rahane. Having secured the second spot on the table, they have earned another go at the final. But DC captain Shreyas Iyer has other plans.

Iyer is confident that his “fearless” side will overcome Mumbai Indians in qualifier 1 and book a seat in the final of IPL 2020. The 25-year-old doesn’t underestimate MI’s experience of knockout games and adds that the side who will be able to hold their nerves will go through.

The Mumbai Indians are one of the best teams. Having said that, I feel we are also a fearless and amazing bunch of boys,” Iyer said at the post-match press conference.

It really depends on the day. They are pretty experienced in such (finals) stages but the team (that) has a good attitude and good composure on that given day is going to make it through.

The four loses on the trot had severely dented the team’s confidence as they felt the heat for the first time this season. Iyer is glad that the win came at the right time for his side. He points out that DC outplayed Virat Kohli‘s RCB in all department’s of the game and the second-place finish was the icing on the cake.

This win was very essential and it has put smiles on our faces after four consecutive losses. Today, the way we played, it was a comprehensive win. All the departments were covered up well by the players.

I am really chuffed by their performance, the way they came up and delivered at the right time. The second place obviously makes you feel good after the season you had, with all the ups and downs,” he said. “The IPL is always a roller-coaster journey.
