Kings XI Punjab has finally found their footing this season as they registered a third consecutive win last night. KXIP comfortably overcame table-toppers Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets to register their fourth win of the season. But what was even more joyful for KL Rahul’s side was the return of a struggling Glenn Maxwell, who scored a 24 ball 32, his highest score this season, to set up the win.

The Australian all-rounder has been under a lot of fire lately for his poor run in IPL 2020. His repeated failure led fans and pundits to suggest dropping him to make way for Chris Gayle or Mujeeb ur Rehman. Maxwell, who KXIP bought at a whopping price of Rs 10.75 crore, has only 90 runs to his name at an average of 15 and a strike-rate of 103.44 this season.

Breaking his long silence over the matter, Rahul shared that he feels its important to back players of his calibre. He further adds that he has been great in the nets and the knock against DC might just be what he wanted, some good time in the middle.

Glenn is a great team man. He has been batting well in the nets. It was important to back him. It was good to see him get time in the middle. Hopefully, he carries this good work into the coming games,” he said.

Although the Aussie hasn’t fired with the bat, he has been handy with the ball for KXIP. He has chipped in with a couple of overs every other match and even has taken crucial wickets every now and then. Rahul points out the balance he brings to the side yet another reason to back him for form is always a good innings away.

Glenn has been batting well in the nets. He is a great team man and we know the balance he brings to the table,” he concluded.

With three wins on the trot, KXIP’s IPL 2020 campaign has been revived, as they now have risen to the fifth place from eight. Punjab is only two points away from a top-four spot. And they would be eyeing to enter the top 4 toppling Kolkata Knight Riders as look to ride the momentum.
