Arjun Tendulkar, the son of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, received a big blow to his hopes of participating in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was dropped from the Mumbai squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy on grounds of his poor form. Mumbai named their 22 men for the tournament and announced that Shreyas Iyer would be the captain and Prithvi Shaw his deputy.
Other IPL stars like Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhawal Kulkarni and Aditya Tare all found a place in the squad. Arjun who was a part of the squad for the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy didn’t have a particularly good outing and has hence, not been named which would be a huge blow to his hopes of being picked in the auction for the upcoming IPL.
India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has received a huge blow ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, for which he has registered his name at the base price of INR 20 Lakhs. The 21-year old left-arm pacer has not been named in Mumbai’s senior team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic 50-over tournament, starting next week.
Arjun Tendulkar has not been in the best of form
Arjun Tendulkar played in just one match for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where the side had a forgettable outing despite boasting of world-class talent. In the match, he did manage to take one wicket but was taken for 21 runs in 2 overs. In the practice matches before the tournament as well, he was taken for plenty of runs while picking up very few wickets.
Meanwhile, Arjun had enrolled his name at the upcoming auction for the 2021 IPL and set his base price at Rs. 20 lakhs. It is noteworthy that he was already a net bowler for champion side Mumbai Indians (MI) for quite some time now and also travelled to the UAE for the 2020 edition.
