After a disappointing season last year, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will look to start fresh in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Eoin Morgan-led side fought hard in IPL 2020 but failed to make it to the playoffs after finishing at the fifth spot.

However, skipper Morgan has said that the Kolkata-based franchise has got a really strong chance this year. He mentioned that the side is more experienced now as last year was the maiden season for him as captain and Brendon McCullum’s first year as coach. The Englishman added that the team players are fully fit and they form a decent playing XI on paper.

“We really have a strong chance this year. Having gone through the experience last year, my first year as captain, Brendon McCullum’s first year as coach. Learning more and more about the players who would benefit us in a huge amount this year. We are in a really strong position, we have guys fully fit at the moment and when you look down the line, particularly on paper, our team looks pretty strong,” Morgan said.

Eoin Morgan added that the team management has added some great players during this year’s auctions. He signed off while mentioning that KKR has more options than ever as they play on different venues this year.

“We’ve had a really good auction and good recruitment process in getting new players in that offer different things when it comes to selection. Given that we play more and different venues this year, that gives us more options than ever,” said Morgan.

Kolkata Knight Riders will play their maiden game of the 14th season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 11. The two sides will lock horns at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
