IPL 2021: RCB vs RR – Match 16, How can Royal Challengers Bangalore keep their winning streak going?

IPL 2021: RCB vs RR – Match 16, How can Royal Challengers Bangalore keep their winning streak going?

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are in red-hot form at the moment. They have won all their matches in Chennai and are now set to begin their Mumbai leg with a match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). RR haven’t had smooth sailing in the tournament so far as they have won just one match while losing the other two. They would desperately want things to change in their favour, starting today.

RCB look like an unstoppable force at the moment. Familiar problems like death overs bowling and accelerating in the middle-overs have been rectified with smart buys made at the auction and trading window. Sitting pretty at the top of the table, another win today would hold them in excellent stead going into the middle stages of the tournament.

On that note, we take a loo at how RCB can defeat RR today.

IPL 2021: RCB vs RR – Key for RCB #1: Decide on the No. 3 spot

Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell
Virat Kohli is assured of his opener spot and Glenn Maxwell is bound to continue at No. 4

RCB are assured of three positions in their top 4. Virat Kohli is bound to continue as an opener for the rest of the tournament and so is Devdutt Padikkal despite the fact that he has looked a bit rusty. Further, Glenn Maxwell has made the spot his own by showing excellent form. The problem is thus with regard to who bats at No. 3

RCB tried Rajat Patidar in their first and third match but he failed. The experiment to use Shahbaz Ahmed in the second match also didn’t pay rich dividends. There is thus, a need to give a player a long rope in that position. If it is Patidar, RCB must continue to back him today and for the rest of the tournament as well.

IPL 2021: RCB vs RR – Key for RCB #2: Virat Kohli must deliver

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has not had a bad season so far by any means. However, he has not been great either. After two patient thirties in the first two matches, he got out cheaply in the third match while trying to take on spinner Varun Chakravarthy. It is Glenn Maxwell who has been delivering in each and every game and there is a need for Kohli to give him support at the other end like he did in the first match.

If the vintage Virat Kohli turns up today, the RR bowlers would in for a tough outing. The IPL is due a big innings from the RCB skipper and it could as well be today.
