IPL 2021: ‘I feel like I can bring some energy,’ says RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) roped in the swashbuckling Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auctions. The Virat Kohli-led side spent a whopping INR 14.25 crore to avail the services of Maxwell in the upcoming season.

The 32-year old is expected to provide the much-needed firepower to RCB’s middle order as batting looks over-dependent on Kohli and AB de Villiers. Meanwhile, Maxwell said that he’s hoping to bring some energy to the side. He also said that he is looking forward to learning from the best cricketers in the world.

“It has been nice to slip straight into the squad. These guys have been welcoming and I have come in unnoticed. I feel like I can bring some energy. Every team I play for, I play with enthusiasm and with energy,” Glenn Maxwell was quoted by IANS as saying.

“I am always looking to learn from the best (AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli). They are the best not just in T20 cricket but also world cricket. I’d like to watch them go about their business. I am looking forward to this season and hopefully, we can go a couple of steps further than last year,” he added.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli revealed that their side wanted Glenn Maxwell and they specifically targeted him during the auctions. Kohli added that the Kangaroo is very happy to be in RCB and he sees different energy about him this time.

“We wanted Maxi, specifically targeted him at the auction in February. You obviously feel great when things end up happening to where you thought they would. He’s a good guy, we’ve caught up in the past as well when I was in Australia on a tour. He’s just very happy to be in RCB and I see different energy about him this time,” Virat Kohli said in a video uploaded by the franchise.
