India’s ‘Mr Dependable’ in Test cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to make his comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during its 14th edition. Three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roped in Pujara for the base price of INR 50 lakh during the 2021 auctions.
During a recent interview with Cricbuzz, Cheteshwar Pujara mentioned that he feels privileged to be part of a franchise that respects players’ performance for the national team. Pujara also said that he’s lucky to play again under MS Dhoni.
“It is very kind of him to say that (on Srinivasan’s comments). I feel privileged to be part of such a franchise that respects the performance of the players for the national team. I am lucky that I will be playing under Mahi bhai who was my captain when I made my international debut.
“And when Mr Srinivasan, who has been associated with cricket for a long time, says such things, it feels great. It is an emotional moment for me,” Pujara told Cricbuzz.
‘Am confident to do better in shorter format’: Pujara
Pujara mentioned that currently, he doesn’t know his position in T20 cricket. But the Saurashtra-born has done well in Test cricket in the recent past which will help to boost his confidence in T20s as well. Pujara added that he’s a part of the right setup ahead of IPL 2021.
“I don’t overrate myself as a T20 player. I can’t say where I stand as a T20 cricketer but as a cricketer, I am in much better space. Having played a lot of cricket at the international level, I am very confident I will do well in the shorter format too. I feel I am part of the right setup in the IPL,” he added.
