IPL 2021: “It’s a bit of a shoulder niggle” – Chris Lynn on why Hardik Pandya did not bowl

Hardik Pandya
In the Opening Match of the IPL 2021 where Royal Challengers Banglore took on the champions Mumbai Indians, it was the former who came up trumps with an excellent performance. They were led by Harshal Patel who picked up five wickets while the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers delivered with the bat.
MI used only five bowlers in the entire match and did not give Hardik Pandya a chance to bowl. He had not bowled in the last season of the IPL due to his shoulder injury but bowled for India later. Meanwhile, Chris Lynn who scored 49 runs for MI revealed the reason as to why Hardik did not bowl.
Chris Lynn reveals the reason behind Hardik Pandya not bowling against RCB

“I’m not a hundred percent sure but it’s a bit of a shoulder niggle. I think Hardik Pandya, not bowling is maybe more precautionary. He’s played a fair bit of cricket leading up to this tournament, in which he has to play (minimum) 14 games as well.
So you don’t want to throw your eggs in one basket and risk injury. The physios and the staff doctors will treat Hardik if there’s something wrong,” Lynn was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda in a press conference.
“He is a huge factor with the bat but if he gets bowling, then it adds another dimension to the team. We might have been missing the sixth bowler tonight but it’s early stages in the tournament. I do believe if Hardik is bowling then it brings out confidence in his batting as well. So fingers crossed we’ll see him with the ball sooner rather than later,” he added.
Hardik only managed to score 13 runs before Harshal Patel got him trapped in front of wickets. Mumbai Indians are going to play against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 13 at the Chepauk Stadium.
