Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continue to struggle in Indian Premier League (IPL) as they registered a third straight loss for the second time this season. A dominant performance by Rajasthan Royals (RR) saw them hand Kane Williamson‘s SRH a comprehensive loss by 55 runs. Jos Buttler led the charge with a scintillating century before the RR bowlers joined the party.
Buttler recovered well from an early struggle to smash an impressive ton, his first of the format. The Englishman’s breezy knock of 124 helped RR to a mammoth target of 220.
With the ball in hand, Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman picked three wickets each to dismantle the struggling SRH batting line up. Playing his first game of the season, Kartik Tyagi was impressive too as he finished with figures of 1 for 32.
“We keep fronting up and make adjustments,” Kane Williamson

Williamson’s first game in charge of the side didn’t quite as expected. He admits that his side have had run into trouble pretty often lately but promises that they will be back strong.
“It was a tough day and a very competitive total from Rajasthan. Jos was outstanding and had his day out. With the bat, you need a few things to go your way. For us, we’ve had a number of challenges over the last three weeks, but we keep fronting up and make adjustments,” Williamson said following the game.

In an interesting move, SRH bowled out Rashid Khan, their ace bowler by only the 11th over of the game. Skipper Kane explains that the aim was to break the partnership between Buttler and his counterpart Sanju Samson. He hails the losses as important lessons for them and urges the leaders in the side to step up.
“Jos and Sanju are key threats in their side, so we wanted to bowl Rashid to bowl as many deliveries to them as possible. It’s character-building for us. Fine margins and this game can change quickly,” he adds. “Exceptional batting from Rajasthan, but we need to build on a few things. A number of leaders in the group and it’s important we stay right.“
SRH made quite some changes coming into the game and the biggest of it was dropping former skipper David Warner. When quizzed if he will be back in orange this season, Williamson feels that there is a good possibility of Warner returning to the side.
“He’s (Warner) a world-class player and I’m sure a number of conversations will be had,” Williamson signed off.
