A stunning knock from Shikhar Dhawan has powered Delhi Capitals to their second win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. DC handed Punjab Kings a defeat by six wickets to return to winning ways. A change in combination didn’t work well for the Kings as they failed to defend the total of 195.

PBKS captain KL Rahul is disappointing having lost the game on his birthday. Rahul shares that his side was 15 odd runs short and dew mad things tougher for them. He adds that batting first it felt like a par score but a scintillating batting performance from Delhi changed things around.

Victory would’ve been sweet on my birthday. Slightly disappointing but we’ve still got a lot of games left. In the end when you look at it, it does look 10-15 short. But I felt batting in the middle 196 was really good. The first half Mayank and I were saying the same, that we’d be good if we got 180-190. But obviously at Wankhede there’s dew and credit to Dhawan,” Rahul said following the game.

“I did ask the umpires to change the ball a couple of times,” KL Rahul

Rahul admits that the dew changed the dynamics of the game drastically against them. Commentator Simon Doul came up with an unique suggestion on air. The Kiwi feels that the ball should changed every couple of overs to keep it from getting too wet. Rahul couldn’t agree more to it as he shares that he even asked the officials to change the ball.

Dew did sway things, bowling second’s always a challenge at Wankhede. We always try to prepare for such conditions but it does get difficult in the situations.

I think it would be fair [on Doull’s suggestions] and I’m not just saying that because I’m on the losing side. I did ask the umpires to change the ball a couple of times but that’s not in the rules,” he adds.

Dhawan was the hero of the run chase as he played a brilliant knock of 92 to take his side to the doorstep of a win. The likes of Prithvi Shaw and Marcus Stoinis chipped win with brisk cameos to take their side home. The run chase was the highest successful run chase at the Wankhede as Delhi made a mockery of the 195-run target.
