IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals (RR) Team Profile Overview, Stats, Auctions Analysis, Season Wise Performance, Full Schedule and Squad

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals (RR) who won the Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2008 haven’t been able to replicate their success ever since, even after 13 years have passed. The side have now become underdogs in the tournament as they have failed to make their way to the playoffs more often than not. A call back to the glory days of 2008 are awaited by their fans more than any and the side would want 2021 to be their year.
RR had a disappointing season last year as they finished last in the points table despite a promising start. Now, with an eye on the future and this year’s tournament, the franchise has gone for a rejig by releasing its captain Steve Smith and elevating Sanju Samson as captain while also appointing Kumar Sangakkara as the Director of Cricket. The team would want the change in personnel to impact them positively and it remains to be seen how it all unfolds this year.
Rajasthan Royals Team Overview

Let’s take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the franchise.
Strengths
The four overseas players that Rajasthan Royals choose in their playing XI would be their biggest strengths. The likes of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer are all proven match-winners at the highest stages of the game. Further, the purchase of Chris Morris adds stability to the bowling attack which relied too much on Archer in the past. Morris’ arrival also adds depth to the batting as the South African is more than capable of wielding the long handle.
Weaknesses
RR have made plenty of brave changes to their team for IPL 2021 and there is always the possibility of it all going awry. The spin department still doesn’t look very impressive. Further, the core of Indian bowlers could once again struggle at the death like last year. The form of the Indian batters like Sanju Samson could also be a concern in the tournament.
