IPL 2021: ‘RCB should first confirm their play-off qualification before experimenting things,’ says Ashish Nehra

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is currently looking like the best team so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The Virat Kohli-led side currently holds the first position in the Points Table with four wins in as many games. They are also the only ones to not lose a single match yet in the 14th edition of the tournament.
Former India pacer Ashish Nehra came up with a piece of advice for Kohli’s men while hailing their performance in IPL 2021. Nehra said that the Bangalore-based franchise must initially look to confirm their play-off qualification and try to finish in the top two before experimenting with things.
“Virat Kohli, as a skipper, never takes things lightly. The way they have started their campaign and won four in four, they shouldn’t limit themselves. I remember when I was in Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and when we went to South Africa in 2009. We experimented with a few things towards the end of the league phase as we had already won around 10 out of 12 games. So first, they should confirm their play-off qualification and try to finish in the top 2,” Nehra told Cricbuzz.
‘RCB found several valuable players other than Virat, AB’: Nehra
Bangalore used to be a heavily dependent side on their two key players: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. However, the former cricketer highlighted that this year the likes of several young Indian players are doing exceptionally well for their franchise.
“RCB couldn’t have got a better start than this. Moreover, they have found several valuable players –other than Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers – in Devdutt Padikkal, Mohammed Siraj, Chahal and Washington Sundar. They should keep them in their core group. And this team has got the potential that we have seen in previous editions. The way they took off this season, let’s hope that they can end the things in a similar way,” he added.
