The champions of the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajasthan Royals recently roped in legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara as the ‘Director of Cricket’.
The franchise had recently appointed their star batsman, Sanju Samson as the new skipper ahead of the 14th IPL edition. This decision came after they let go of Steve Smith ahead of the auctions before last year’s runner-ups Delhi Capitals bought him.
Sanju Samson expressed his excitement about having Sangakkara on the side before the start of the tournament. Samson mentioned that it’s an honour to work alongside the former Sri Lankan skipper and he looks forward to learning a lot of things from him.

“It’s an honour to have him alongside, especially when I am the captain and he is the coach. The relationship is going to be really special. Looking forward to meeting him and learning a lot of things from him,” he added.
