Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) today at the Feroz Shah Kotla (Arun Jaitley Stadium) in Delhi in the 31st match of VIVO IPL 2021 which will be both sides’ eighth match of the season. IPL 2021: SRH vs MI – Match Preview
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad have been woefully inconsistent this season and they find themselves in a huge spot of bother at the moment as they have won just one match out of their first seven. Unless a huge turnaround occurs, the side’s chances of making it to the playoffs look all but over.
In their previous match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Orange Army came up against a marauding Jos Buttler who struck a century to take his side to a huge score. SRH were not able to keep up with the asking rate in the second innings as they fell meekly in the end.
SRH can ill afford to lose today and if they do, it might already be curtains on their campaign.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are in a good place at the moment as they find themselves on the fourth spot, having lost just three matches in the tournament so far. On a two-match winning streak, MI would want the streak to go on and against lowly SRH, it would be the perfect opportunity for the same.
In the previous match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MI rode on a brutal knock from Kieron Pollard to chase down a huge total of 219. The last-ball thriller was one of the matches of the season and the chase is bound to give much-needed confidence to the defending champions.
A win today would get MI equal on points with RCB and CSK and hence, they would be keen to come up trumps.
