Chennai Super Kings’ star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has joined the team’s bio-bubble in Mumbai ahead of the Indian Premier League campaign in 2021. The MS Dhoni-led side heaved a sigh of relief as the southpaw seems to have recovered from his injury in time for the IPL.

The 32-year-old will have to undergo a seven-day quarantine before joining the other team members.

Ravindra Jadeja has been out of action since early January, when he dislocated his left thumb while batting in the Sydney Test against Australia. The all-rounder then underwent surgery in Sydney and returned to India thus missing the final Test of the series in Brisbane. Jadeja has been working on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for the past two months.

He has now joined the CSK camp and the Twitter handle of the side welcomed him on Twitter.

Meanwhile, there is a question mark over the vice-captain of the team. Suresh Raina, who has been the deputy to MS Dhoni in CSK since the first season of IPL in 2008, has not yet been named vice-captain by the franchise. It has led to speculation that Jadeja could be a potential candidate. “We’ll name the vice-captain closer to the tournament,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.

CSK will open their IPL campaign on April 10 against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai.
