Two of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) most popular teams lock horns today at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi as defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will play Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Both teams have performed well throughout the course of this season although MI have had a few hiccups here and there. While MI have 3 wins so far, CSK already have 5 and the champions would want to reduce the different with a win today.
MI’s biggest problem has been their middle order which has not come good so far. However, a change in venue from Chennai to Delhi should be beneficial to them as captain Rohit Sharma himself pointed out. CSK on the other hand, seem to have all bases covered and are increasingly looking like the team to beat this season as they are on a five-match winning run since their loss in the opening game.
Who will win today’s match: MI vs CSK
Although CSK are in a better place at the moment and in terrific form, MI could fancy their chances of winning this one. This fixture has been one of the very few ones that CSK has found to be difficult and with the Delhi conditions suiting the defending champions well, this could be the start of an excellent run for them after an indifferent start to the tournament. A win would be of paramount importance and under pressure, Rohit Sharma’s MI usually deliver.
CSK’s deep batting line-up would be a problem if the Men in Yellow decide to chase, but with two excellent bowlers in Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah, MI should be able to restrict them to a lower score than what they would have liked regardless of the innings. With the power-hitters in MI not getting a chance to flex their muscles yet in Delhi, they could do so today if the opportunity arises.
