The Elimination Chamber PLE did indeed have an industry-changing moment as touted by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. In the last segment of the show, John Cena, who’d already won the men’s Elimination Chamber match, turned heel on Cody Rhodes at the behest of The Rock. It marked a significant character shift in Cena’s WWE career for the first time since 2003.

Popular streamer IShowSpeed reacted to the moment, and he was dumbfounded for a while. He kept saying that Cena had never resorted to being a bad guy. At one point, Speed subtly jibed that he might have to put the Peacemaker actor in his place for brutalizing Cody Rhodes. The internet sensation has said on record that John has been one of his favorite wrestlers of all time.

Last month, when Triple H invited Speed to live-stream the Royal Rumble, the 20-year-old’s inquisitiveness about meeting Cena said it all. IShowSpeed did, in fact, get as remotely close as possible to The Franchise Player backstage but couldn’t see him regardless. Apart from that, Speed went on to partake in the 30-man Royal Rumble match.

He subbed in for Akira Tozawa, who was laid out by Carmelo Hayes on the entrance stage. That left the door wide open for a replacement, and Triple H called for Speed to fill the void. The social media sensation would forever rue that day as he suffered the wrath of Bron Breakker’s spear and was eventually tossed over the top rope.

Speed didn’t interact with Cena, which was the latter’s last-ever Royal Rumble match. That night, Jey Uso stunned The Cenation Leader by pushing him off the ring apron and seizing his berth at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

The Cenation Leader made his way to the post-show press conference, sat down, dropped the mic, and left. That was it. The moment solidified that John isn’t subject to explain his actions to anyone.

He sold out to The Rock, who later confirmed during the presser that his former nemesis was due to fly to Africa to continue his filming commitments. The Ricky Stanicky star will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title at WrestleMania 41. Cena’s upcoming televised appearances are scheduled for three consecutive Mondays on Raw, beginning March 17 in Brussels.
