Isiah Thomas has zero doubt that he would have no trouble going toe-to-toe with Stephen Curry.

Stephen Curry and Isiah Thomas are arguably the greatest point guards of their respective eras. Both players had an enormous impact on the team’s wins and were known for their incredible ball-handling skills.

Thomas was considered to be more of a traditional point guard, while Curry is seen as a two guard by many and revolutionized the game of basketball with his shooting ability. Both of them had a huge influence on the court despite their small size.

Thomas recently spoke about playing against Curry and today’s players in the NBA.

I just know this. I may not be able to guard him, but sh*t, I know he can’t guard me… I’m looking at all these guys and sh*t, ain’t none of them guarding me.

Isiah Thomas on the “Crossover Podcast”

This is not the first time that Isiah Thomas has thrown shade on Stephen Curry. Since the ascension of Curry as one of the greatest players of all time, many have forgotten or overlooked Thomas’ greatness in the 80s.

While many believe Curry has surpassed Thomas in the all-time list, Thomas has often claimed to be a better point guard than the Golden State Warriors star. Thomas used to lead his team in points and assists; however, Curry may be one of the greatest scorers in the modern-day era, but he is not the primary playmaker of the Warriors. Draymond Green is usually tasked with running Warriors’ offense.

Comparing the careers of Isiah Thomas and Stephen Curry

Isiah Thomas was drafted by the Detroit Pistons as the number two pick in the 1981 NBA draft. He played for 13 seasons in the NBA and was named an All-Star 12 times. He won back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990, and was named the Finals MVP in 1990.

What made Thomas special is that he was one of just four players, 6-foot-2 or under, to win a Finals MVP award in the NBA. He was the undisputed leader of the “Bad Boys Pistons”. During their championship run in 1989, they beat the likes of Larry Bird, Michael Johnson, and Michael Jordan. The Pistons beat Jordan and the Chicago Bulls once again in 1990.

Meanwhile, Curry was riddled with injuries early in his career. Just like Thomas, he has spent his entire career playing for one franchise. He is coming off his 17th season in the NBA. He is a 12-time All-Star and has won four championships to go along with one Finals MVP. He has two league-MVPs to his name as well, including a unanimous MVP in 2016.

Curry is undoubtedly the greatest shooter to ever play the game and has broken numerous three-point shooting records. He is still playing at a very high level. At the end of the day, there is very little to compare between the two all-time great players. However, in terms of achievements and accolades, it is difficult not to say Curry deserves to be placed higher than Thomas.

Isiah Thomas says Jalen Brunson did something Stephen Curry didn’t

Jalen Brunson is coming off a historic championship run of his own. He led the New York Knicks to their first championship since 1973 and was named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP during their title run.

Isiah Thomas heaped praise on the Knicks guard and compared his title run to Stephen Curry’s.

Curry did it at 6’3″ more or less shooting, scoring. Brunson and I, we did it, scoring and assisting. That is something totally different. And that’s why it’s so unique. Because he can assist. And then he scores. Curry was more just a scorer.

It was a historic championship for the Knicks. Brunson defied the odds despite many doubts about him being able to lead his team to a championship. In the end, Brunson not only responded to his critics but also led his team in both scoring and assists throughout the playoffs.
