Alex Pereira and Islam Makhachev are two of the biggest names on the current UFC roster. The Brazilian superstar is gearing up to defend his title for the fourth time this Saturday against Magomed Ankalaev. Going into the fight, CEO Dana White is quite pumped and believes ‘Poatan’ can definitely be the best fighter in the world. 

With four successful title defenses and a dominant reign, Makhachev has firmly held the top spot as the pound-for-pound ace. Trailing him are heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Pereira on the current rankings. However, according to White, Pereira has a chance to get a massive boost if he emerges victorious at UFC 313.

If Alex comes out of this the way he’s come out of every other fight, he might be the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.

White has highlighted Ankalaev as the biggest threat to Pereira, citing his strong wrestling skills. This matchup has become a hot topic in the MMA community, sparking debates over who would come out on top. While the challenger has openly warned Pereira, the champion appears unfazed by the threat.

UFC has always had fighters who momentarily disrupt the sport and become huge superstars. Currently, Pereira is one such star. White agreed that millions of fans are eager to see the Brazilian, making him the biggest PPV star among others. Fans are also excited to see what’s next for ‘Poatan’ after UFC 313.

Later, he moved to light heavyweight, captured gold again, solidifying himself as one of the sport’s most feared strikers.

Last year, he defended his title thrice and knocked out all his opponents. The Brazilian fighter is always up for challenges and is ready to fight anybody at any time. In a recent interview, Pereira shared the potential opponents that he’s looking forward to fighting in the UFC.

Either Dricus or Jon Jones or even fighting Oleksandr Usyk in boxing. Those, I see, possibly happening. Doesn’t depend on me, it depends on the UFC.
