Canadian musician Drake is an avid sports enthusiast. His love for combat sports and basketball is second to none. A thing he is infamous for is the ‘Drake Curse.’ Whenever he had bet on a fighter or a team, they most likely lost. Nonetheless, Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira are two fighters who broke the curse.

Pereira was the recent fighter who broke the curse. Drake had bet $675K for Pereira to defeat Jamahal Hill at UFC 300. Adesanya was in the audience for the event, seated near Kamaru Usman. The Kiwi middleweight’s reaction to Pereira’s knockout has now gone viral. He felt somewhat sad as he had predicted Hill to win via knockout. Moreover, he had also advised Hill to defeat Pereira.

Nonetheless, Drake won close to $1.2 million for his bet on Pereira. Interestingly, when Pereira fought Adesanya, Drake bet on the Kiwi on both occasions. For the first time at UFC 281, Drake bet and lost $2 million on Adesanya.

At UFC 287, Drake put two bets on Adesanya. The first was a $500K bet to win, and the second was a $400K bet to win via knockout. Cumulatively, Drake made close to $1.8 million for his bets. However, times have passed since UFC 287, and fast forward to UFC 300, Pereira now reigns as the light heavyweight king.

Nevertheless, Alex Pereira has set sights on the heavyweight division after UFC 300. He had earlier expressed his interest in headlining UFC 301 and reiterated his interest. UFC 301 does not have a stellar main event. Therefore, there is a chance that Pereira might get his wish.

Alex Pereira explains the reason for the viral celebration at UFC 300

Alex Pereira recreated the popular emote of Italian TikTok star Khabe Lame after he knocked out Jamahal Hill. It was Karma for Hill as he had made a series of troll posts on social media, preluding the title fight at UFC 300. The finishing sequence was mindboggling as it came after he refused referee Herb Dean’s intervention after a low blow. He separated Hill from consciousness seconds later.

With the victory, Pereira defeated former light heavyweight champions, who never lost but vacated the title via TKO. In the post-fight press conference, Pereira explained the reason for the Khabe Lame-inspired celebration.

The way he behaved was not so good. ... That's least that I could do was just that to him.

Hill is now the fifth former or current UFC champion that Pereira has defeated. Already a Glory Kickboxing Hall of Famer, he is now a surefire UFC Hall of Famer even though he does not have double-digit fights on his record. The future of ‘Poatan’ is something that MMA fans will look forward to after his legendary UFC 300 performance.
