Israel Adesanya gave his due respect to Kayla Harrison who is an Olympic Judo gold medalist. However, he still will not take trash talk from Harrison as he clearly expressed in his latest YouTube video. He also talked about Harrison’s upcoming debut at UFC 300 and what he thinks about her matchup with Holly Holm.
Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker were going over the UFC 300 fight card and making their picks for the matchups. They eventually came across the Harrison vs. Holm matchup which is when they brought up this old comment from her about City Kickboxing and Adesanya himself.
She could take me down. That’s fair. Look, that’s fair. She’s a judo Olympian gold medalist or whatever, I probably couldn’t stop some of her takedowns.Israel Adesanya via his YouTube channel
This was back in 2021 when Kayla Harrison was still in PFL and she had just won a fight. She grabbed the mic at her post-fight octagon interview and said that there was no way around her takedowns. She brought up City Kickboxing, Israel Adesanya’s training ground, and said that even the former middleweight champion would not be able to stop her takedowns.
Meanwhile, Dan Hooker had his comments for Kayla Harrison. He believes that Harrison does not have the skills to take down Holly Holm, a former UFC bantamweight champion. Hooker does not believe Harrison has the skills to pressure Holm and push her against the fence or close the distance on her. According to his prediction, Holm will likely keep her distance for the entirety of the fight and score the win by decision.
Israel Adesanya rips Dricus Du Plessis about trying to avoid a fight in South Africa
Israel Adesanya also responded to Du Plessis who had made some interesting statements about Adesanya. Dricus Du Plessis is the current UFC middleweight champion, a position held by Adesanya for a significant period. When Du Plessis became champion, it seemed like he wanted to defend his belt in South Africa. However, he recently called out Adesanya on his Instagram, challenging him to a fight in Australia.
However, Adesanya was not happy with this and called him out for avoiding a fight on ‘home soil’. He mocked the South African champion for backing out of his promise at the last minute. Adesanya said:
Also you know what’s st*pid? He said something like I guess he doesn’t want to fight me, the king of Africa on home soil. N*gga, you didn’t want to fight me on home soil so shut the f*ck up.Israel Adesanya via his YouTube channel
This is not the first time Adesanya and Du Plessis have clashed over South Africa. The current champion’s former comments about being the only real African champion had Adesanya lashing out at him. They even faced off for a potential showdown at UFC 293 but Du Plessis backed out in the last minute.
