Dricus Du Plessis successfully defended his middleweight title at UFC 305. Although Israel Adesanya was unable to take out the South African champion, he still believed he made ‘history’ with his hilarious comment at the post-fight press conference. Here is what happened:
Israel Adesanya had made some bold statements prior to the fight. However, at the post-fight press conference, the two-time middleweight champion hilariously acknowledged his loss to his South African rival.

Dricus Du Plessis submitted Israel Adesanya in the fourth round at UFC 305. The fight was highly competitive, with both fighters exchanging heavy strikes and showing solid grappling skills. Du Plessis managed to secure the decisive moment by knocking Adesanya down with a series of punches and then locking in a rear-naked choke, forcing him to tap out.
With this victory, Du Plessis successfully secured his first title defense. With this loss at UFC 305, it will be the first time in a while that Israel Adesanya is not in the discussion for the middleweight title fight. It will be interesting to see when and how ‘The Last Stylebender’ makes a proper comeback to the octagon.
Israel Adesanya says he is now a fan of Dricus Du Plessis
Israel Adesanya is now a fan of Dricus Du Plessis. That is what he stated at the post-fight press conference in Perth. Both fighters had mutually respectful and friendly exchanges after the fight. While Du Plessis acknowledged they still do not particularly like each other, they managed to bury some of the animosity.
The dispute between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis leading up to UFC 305 was largely centered around their claims regarding African heritage and identity. Although their rivalry was heated, with strong emotions on both sides, the tension softened after the fight.

Adesanya acknowledged the South African as a true African UFC champion. He claimed that the reign of the three African champions in the UFC which were him, Kamaru Usman and Francis Ngannou would reign supreme. However, now it was on Du Plessis to inspire the next generation of African champions.
