“In the end, it costs” – Toni Nadal
In a recent interview, Toni Nadal denied all the rumors which stated that Rafa fired his uncle from his managerial position. Further stating that all such rumors are false and unsubstantiated. Toni also said that all the rumors regarding him not being completely honest with Rafa were untrue as he denied all such allegations.
The interviewer, while referring to Serena Williams‘ coach Patrick Mouratoglou, also asked Toni about that the effects of being 100 percent honest with your player has on a coach’s job.
Toni replied, “The normal thing would be to tell the truths of the boatman not to the player, but to anyone, but in the end, it costs because the one who pays does it to hear what he wants to hear.“
He also stressed on the importance of being honest with everyone else along with the player. But the former coach added, “In the end, it costs.” So it remains unclear how open and blunt he really was when while coaching his nephew.
The historic pair went on to achieve grand successes when they were together. They shattered records and reached new heights. Toni Nadal, who recently joined FC Barcelona’s board, continues to appreciate his nephew’s successes and both are still on good terms. He also broke into tears when he saw his protégé win his 13th French Open.
