“It is terrifying up there and it does not feel good”: Drew McIntyre about Hell in a Cell

2020 has not been a great year, but for Drew McIntyre it most certainly was. He has achieved some seriously commended feats this year. First he successfully eliminated Brock Lesnar from the Royal Rumble match. A match where Lesnar equaled the WWE record for most eliminations by a single wrestler. Next, he went on to win the Royal Rumble 2020, earning a shot at the WWE Championship.
McIntyre’s feats don’t end there. He capitalized on the opportunity, and successfully defeated Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36 to win the WWE Championship. But his Championship win and the title defenses since then have been at empty arenas or with the virtual fans in attendance at WWE’s Thunderdome. Absence of fans might surely impact McIntyre’s experience, but the WWE Universe has really loved and appreciated his title reign. McIntyre has now been a WWE Champion for more than 6 months.
Experience at Hell in a Cell

On 25th October, 2020, at Hell in a Cell, Drew McIntyre would be stepping into the Cell for the first time in his career. His previous experience of the cage had left him terrified. The last time, he showed up at Hell in a Cell, wasn’t for his own match. The match was between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. McIntyre, alongwith Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose had run down to the cage.
McIntyre, speaking on The Busted Open radio show, mentioned that he and Dean Ambrose had climbed the top of the structure and clotheslined each other. Both of them lied atop the structure, while Lesnar enter the ring and attacked everyone. The idea of Lesnar climbing up and throwing him and Ambrose down scared him. Although he claimed it to be a terrifying experience, he wants to do it since he was a child.
“Climbing back down is the scariest part. Climbing up there is one thing”, said Drew when asked about what scared him the most.
McIntyre is up against Randy Orton, who has vast experience at competing in the steel caged hell. In this Orton-McIntyre rivalry, Orton has already lost twice in as many PPV matches. He first lost at the Summerslam PPV. Next he lost at the Clash of Champions PPV, in an ambulance match. It remains to be seen whether the tides turn for The Viper, at Hell in a Cell.
