The poor form of Kerber in 2020

In any of the 2 slams, she has been unable to move ahead of round 4. Kerber has struggled since last year and was ranked 21 when the rankings were frozen before the pandemic. The German surely has seen better days on court and she will try to work hard to have a better run on the French clay.

Kerber has never made it ahead of quarters at Roland Garros. At this time she needs to bring better tennis and earn more points. Kerber was seeded 15 at the Italian Open.

Irina-Camelia Begu and Anett Kontaveit ease to Round 2

Irina Camelia Begu won her first round with 6-2, 6-2 after qualifying to the maine draw of Italian Open. She also had a successful run at Prague Open, losing the semis to Simona Halep. The Romanian will try to repeat her high-grade performance at Rome that provided her with a phenomenal boost.

On the other hand Anett Kontaveit won against Caroline Garcia, 6-3, 7-6(1). Garcia defeated the top seed Karolina Pliskova at the US Open. However, her run at the clay WTA was rather short as she lost to the 14th seed in first round.
