Karolina Pliskova entered the tournament as a second seed and is now up against in the final against Simona Halep. Pliskova won comfortably in the match 6-2, 6-4 straight sets.
Pliskova will try to defend her title
Karolina Pliskova was phenomenal in her semi-final against fellow Czech player Vondrousova. She won 88% points on her first serve in the opening set. Pliskova was the favourite in the match as she entered with a lead in the head to head (1-0) against the younger player. On the other hand, Vondrousova has been showcasing a terrific game at clay. She was the semi-finalist too at the French Open 2019.
The first set saw some great baseline rallies but Pliskova dominated with her winners. The compatriot showcased good service too, yet Pliskova had an upper hand due to the strong baseline rallies. she won the set 6-2 with all-round performance and consistent service. She did only one double fault while Vondrousova did 3.
In the second set, 47% of points were won by Pliskova. There was a heavy drop 41 percent in the points she won on the first serve. Yet her groundstrokes were still doing the work as she prevailed to win the set 6-4.
Pliskova is the second seed and is up against the first seed Simona Halep. The duo will give some thrilling tennis at the finals and provide exactly the stature of tennis that a WTA final is ought to witness.
