Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov shocked the Colombian top seeds Robert Farah and Juan Cabal in a thriller on Thursday. With this win Rohan Bopanna and Shapovalov book their spot in the last 8. This is a great victory for the pair as they not only beat the top seeds but it also clears their path in the coming stages. This is the first time the Colobians have lost in Rome since 2016.

Rohan Bopanna and Shapovalov upset the top seeds in a thriller

Rohan Bopanna, one of India’s top tennis players alongside Denis Shapovalov, the talented Canadian upset the top seeds Robert Farah and Juan Cabal from Colombia in a thriller. The match was decided in a last set super tiebreaker where Bopanna and Shapovalov emerged victorious. The pair won the first set in a comfortable manner winning it 6-3 but however the top seeds showed their class winning the next set 6-3. The Indo-Canadian pair held their nerves to clinch the decisive super tiebreaker clinching it by 10-5 points and progressing to the last 8.

Rohan Bopanna and Shapovalov defeated Guido Pella and Cristian Garin in straight sets in the 1st round winning 6-4,6-4. With the win over the top seeds on Thursday, the Indo- Canadian pair will be backing their chances to claim the title at Rome this year in order to give them a boost ahead of the French Open which commences later this month. The pair have been in good form since the past month making it to the last 8 at the US Open and certainly getting better after each game.
