Paris Saint Germain are halfway through to the UEFA Champions League quarter finals after defeating FC Barcelona 4-1 in the round of sixteen match at Camp Nou. This win puts them in an extremely strong position in the overall tie.

As for FC Barcelona the situation for both manager Ronald Koeman and the players is extremely tough. There’s little chance of them getting through and even if they do it will be a miracle.

Kylian Mbappe puts on a masterclass to steamroll FC Barcelona

Lionel Messi looks defeated after the loss

FC Barcelona started off well with a penalty which was controversial to say the least. A lot was said and still is being said about the nature of the penalty given by the referee and then confirmed by the video assistant referee. An extremely soft challenge on Frenkie De Jong which looked like more of him tripping over himself was given as a penalty for the hosts. Lionel Messi in typical style slotted the ball home to hit the ground running for Barcelona.

But who knew that it wasn’t supposed to be Messi’s night but Instead a night to remember for a young star who’s much known to idolize Messi’s close rival Cristiano Ronaldo. Kylian Mbappe was on absolute fire at Camp Nou and tore Barcelona apart single handedly. A fiery hat-trick left the Catalonian giants clueless.

The man firstly scored the equaliser after dribbling past the Barcelona defence and then put Paris Saint Germain ahead with a relatively easy goal. On the other hand Moise Kean too joined the party with his header but the final nail in the coffin was put by Mbappe at the end of a blistering counterattack. A superb finish into the top corner which left Marc Ander Ter Stegen with no chance.

Before the match, he asked me how many times I had won at Camp Nou,” Pochettino said in his post-game press conference. “‘Once,’ I told him. He replied to me: ‘Tomorrow, we are going to win a second time.’
He is a top player. Great footballers write their history. They evolve match after match. With this hat-trick, Kylian will be in the spotlight but we had no doubts.
“He’s world-class. No one can discover Mbappe tonight. He’s a fantastic player and he’s very happy in our club. He said it, I said it too.”
