When it’s all said and done, UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman will be considered amongst the greatest of all time. The Nigerian mixed-martial artist who’s on the second-longest winning streak in UFC history and the longest active-win streak is the welterweight champion with 5 title defences, 3 of which took place in 2021. This made Usman the Male Fighter of the Year by the major MMA media outlets all over the world in 2021. Also, Usman leads the pound-for-pound rankings by the UFC.
As of now, Usman has significant victories over the likes of Sean Strickland, Gilbert Burns, Tyron Woodley, Rafael Dos Anjos, Demian Maia, Leon Edwards, Jorge Masvidal (twice) and Colby Covington (twice). Now, Usman is most likely going to fight Edwards in a rematch next, who’s coming off an 8-fight winning streak himself, and will therefore look forward to defending his title for the sixth time. If Usman defeats Edwards in the rematch as well, it will be quite clear that “The Nigerian Nightmare” has no competition in the top welterweight rankings as of now.

MMA Legend Chael Sonnen talked about Kamaru Usman hailing him on one of his videos on his Youtube Channel as in what makes Usman a great champion and what exactly the up and coming MMA prospects can trace from him for their own careers.
“Find somebody else that does something that you aspire to do, study that person and copy them,” says Sonnen “That’s why I bring to you, Kamaru Usman. But it’s not just the punches it’s not the kicks it’s not the resetting it’s just not just the competitive stuff that’s what you see, it’s the things that you don’t see that make him who he is.
He’s a very good person but he’s also fair when he’s doing business with somebody he is going to stand up for himself and he’s not going to slow down he does them both at the same time, they’re simultaneous that is what’s unique,” Sonnen continued.
“He has an agenda while understanding he has an agreement and there are rewards for that. He won’t be thanked, he won’t be patted on the back, he won’t ever be studied because he does it quietly. I’m the one telling you!” Sonnen concluded.
