Izzy Brown signs for Championship side Preston North End

Preston North End made their second signing of the window as they got former Chelsea player, Izzy Brown, to sign on the dotted line. The club captured Brown on a one-year deal, with an option of an extension of another year. After letting go of five forwards, either back to the loaning club or releasing them, Izzy will be Preston’s first forward acquisition, and third signing overall, in this window.

Izzy has had an in-and-out career with the current European champions, Chelsea, going out on loan seven different times: from both the U23 and the main team. His career clubs include Brighton and Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United among others. Despite not getting too much time at a single club, he said that it helped in gain experience in the sport.

Izzy’s thoughts on the transfer

Preston North End finished last season on a five match unbeaten streak, winning the last four matches.

I’m over the moon to finally get this done. It’s been in the works for a couple of weeks now, but I’m absolutely delighted to be here,” Izzy Brown said, “I finally feel like it’s the place where I can have a home and just be happy playing football, doing what I want to do every day, doing something that I love.

Preston’s a proper family club and ever since I’ve been here all the staff have made me feel so welcome, and everyone’s so lovely around the place, so I feel like hopefully, it can get the best out of me in this atmosphere. Now I’m getting to that age where I want to develop myself as a player and hopefully be a legend at a club, and I really feel like Preston’s a place where I could do that.”

Preston manager Frankie McAvoy commented his own opinions on the player: “He’s got good pedigree. He’s got great experience in terms of playing in the Championship and an ex-Chelsea player from a young age. He just needs to find that self-belief again and confidence, but we’re certainly getting a player with undoubted talent.”

We’re looking forward to working with him. I think if we can get him up and running, believing in himself, being confident in his own ability then I’m sure he’ll endear himself to the Preston faithful.”

After a late-season purple patch that saw Preston finish 13th in the Championship last season, they would be looking to replicate the same form more consistently throughout next season and finish higher on the table this time around.
