Tennis fans were not happy with Jack Draper’s coach, James Trotman, helping the British tennis star during his semifinal match against Jannik Sinner at the 2024 US Open. Quite a few found it annoying and blamed Trotman for spoiling a good match.

As Draper took on World No. 1 Sinner in his first Grand Slam semifinal, the 22-year-old needed some on-court coaching to navigate through the match. Trotman was helping Draper from the box with a few suggestions here and there. At one point, he was heard asking Draper to go for shorter points as the Briton was struggling with long rallies.

Jack Draper blames nausea and sickness for his defeat to Jannik Sinner

The Briton, who was seen vomiting multiple times on the court, claimed that he felt weaker and dizzier with every passing minute on the court. Draper said that he tends to feel nauseous when he is excited and this being his first Grand Slam semifinal made him nervous.

Obviously, it's a big occasion for me. I definitely felt, even though I generally feel pretty relaxed and stuff, I definitely felt more excited today, a few more nerves around. I'm definitely someone who is, I think, quite an anxious human being. I think when you add all that together sometimes I do feel a bit nausea on court, and I do feel a little bit sick when it gets tough.

The 22-year-old also admitted that the match was on the physical side with Sinner, which kept his intensity high throughout. However, Draper said that he expected it considering he was facing the World No. 1. While disappointed with the defeat, he said that he would take this as a learning and bounce back stronger.
