Jack Draper reveals how close he is to reaching Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s level as he aims to “improve mentally”

Jack Draper broke into the ATP elites after claiming his first ATP 1000 Masters title in Indian Wells. The British star, who is the new World No.7, now aims to continue his upward growth by competing at the level of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. He also aims to improve his mental and emotional game.
Draper arrived at Indian Wells after reaching the final of the Qatar Open. The 23-year-old lost to Andrey Rublev and finished as runners-up in the ATP 500 tournament. He continued with the form.at Indian Wells, beating 4 Top 20 players, including Carlos Alcaraz to win the title.
In the final, Draper gave an emphatic performance to oust Holger Rune. The British star showcased the accurate serving, which has been the bedrock of his game and he hit ripping winners from the baseline. He defeated the Danish star 6-2, 6-2 in just an hour and 8 minutes to secure the title.
The British star moved up to World No.7 in the ATP singles rankings, jumping up seven places from No.14. He revealed that he’s yet to reach the level of Alcaraz and Sinner, who have won four and three Grand Slam, respectively.
I mean, I would like to think that I still have got to improve a lot. Especially those boys like Alcaraz and [Jannik] Sinner, they are a long way ahead of me in all honestly. Four Slams and three Slams. That is the benchmark I am going after. This is a great week, and I have been more and more consistent with my results, but I still have a long way to go; I still have a lot to improve mentally, physically, and emotionally. That’s the goal to reach these guys and compete for the big titles week in, week out but I am not getting too far ahead of myself.

Draper has a long way to go to reach the level of Sinner and Alcaraz. The two top ATP players have played consistently for the past two years, which has seen them.win several titles. The World No.7 will hope his body doesn’t come between him and his goal.
Jack Draper overcomes injury worries and poor form to secure first Masters title
Jack Draper has overcome adversity to reach the height he has gotten to. The British star was struggling with form and injuries a few years ago but has found a way to stay fit. In fact, earlier this season, he had to withdraw from the United Cup because of injury scare and focus on the Australian Open.

Last year, he found his form during the grass season which helped him secure his first ATP title at the Stuttgart Open. He then progressed further to reach the semifinals of the US Open in September. The following month, he won his first ATP 500 title at the Vienna Open. He has won three titles in less than a year.

Following Indian Wells’ success, Jack Draper is now aiming for more titles. The British star’s best run at a Grand Slam event was reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open. In January, he achieved his best Australian Open run by getting to the fourth round. He revealed during an interview, that he wants to be a great player.

Setting goals and saying you’re going to do something, it’s important to believe it but if you’re not putting in the work and putting in the sacrifice and the days of consistency together, then you’re not going to achieve anything. Obviously I want to be a great player and I want to achieve amazing things in this sport but my main goal is to keep on improving and keep on knuckling down.

Draper’s next tournament will be the Miami Open, which begins on March 17. The British star exited the event last year in the second round after losing in three sets to Nicolas Jarry. He will be hoping to do better this time around.
