The Young Bucks became three-time AEW Tag Team Champions at AEW Dynasty. After a brutal ladder match, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson defeated long-time rivals FTR to clinch the gold. However, the EVPs wouldn’t have won without the help of the Scapegoat, Jack Perry. The latter appeared on AEW programming for the first time since his backstage altercation with CM Punk.
For weeks, The Young Bucks have teased the return of the former FTW Champion. After the All In footage was shown on television, Perry’s interference became an inevitability for many fans. During the event, a masked figure jumped over the barricade and flipped over the ladder while Dax Harwood was climbing it. As security rushed into the ring, they removed the mask to reveal the 26-year-old. This allowed Nicholas to retrieve the belts and secure the win.
Following the backstage incident with CM Punk, Jack Perry was suspended indefinitely while The Second City Saint left the company. Months later, the former showed up in NJPW under the ‘Scapegoat’ persona. Reports suggested that Perry had been exiled to the Japanese promotion as Tony Khan was supposedly angry with his actions.
Perry fought during the WrestleMania weekend in the former AEW Champion’s home city of Chicago. Despite losing against Shota Umino, he garnered heat for his upcoming run in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Jungle Boy after his return on Dynasty.
What’s next for Jack Perry in AEW?
The outcome of the tag team ladder match has opened a plethora of storyline possibilities for Jack Perry. Most notably, his association and friendship with The Young Bucks can lead to an on-screen partnership. The 26-year-old is already considered by fans as a member of the newly formed Elite, which currently includes the EVPs and Kazuchika Okada.
Speaking of The Rainmaker, he successfully defended the Continental Championship against PAC in a hot opener. Needless to say, The Elite has taken over as the most dominant faction in the promotion. As a matter of fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Perry feud for a championship following his return.
A month ago, The Young Bucks kicked out their longtime partners, Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page. Hence, once the former AEW Champions return, a rivalry involving all the current and former members of the faction will most likely take place.
