The Milwaukee Brewers are baseball’s best in 2026. On Wednesday, the National League side clinched their 1st World Series title by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5. Jacob Misiorowski, the team’s ace pitcher, was brought to tears following their historic triumph.

The right-handed pitcher burst onto the scene last June. He became the fastest player to be named an All-Star in MLB when he was named a replacement for Matthew Boyd in 2025. Since his electrifying debut, “the Miz” has continued to impress the fans with his performance.

There were some questions regarding him on Tuesday. With the team leading 3-2 in the 12th inning, many thought the Brewers could turn to him and bring him in as a relief pitcher for a 1-run save.

The team decided against it and ended up losing 4-3 and failed to get the sweep. Manager Pat Murphy claimed they didn’t want to burn his arm for a one-run situation in extras while they were up 3-0 in the series.

On Wednesday, Misiorowski took the mound as the starting pitcher and once again dominated the Rays. While he managed just 2 strikeouts, he limited the opposition to just 2 hits, gave up 1 walk, and threw 5.2 scoreless innings.

He left the game after 86 pitches due to a cramp. This start from him, though, set his team up for victory.

On the offensive side, Cooper Pratt continued his hot streak and drove in 2 runs. A late double from Chandler Simpson in the 9th inning denied them a shutout win. However, the Brewers were by far the best team in this series and were crowned champions with an emphatic 4-1 win in Game 5.

Once the final out was recorded, the emotions started to pour out of the players. In his first full season with the team, Misiorowski is a World Series champion. During an on-field interview with Tom Verducci, the 24-year-old was brought to tears after talking about the city of Milwaukee.

They’ve been nothing but support for us this whole year and years prior, and it’s been amazing. … I’m getting emotional.

This historic season could end up with another major honor for the pitcher. He is currently the heavy favorite to win the National League Cy Young Award this year.

Jacob Misiorowski comments on possibly winning the NL Cy Young Award

In just his 2nd season in MLB, Jacob Misiorowski has a World Series championship ring. While winning the championship is the ultimate goal, the 2-time All-Star could end up with the National League Cy Young Award as well.

In the regular season, he went 16-5 in 30 starts and picked up 252 strikeouts. His 1.80 ERA was the lowest of any qualified starting pitcher in the league this year.

In the postseason, he went 2-0 in 4 starts with a 1.89 ERA in 19 innings. Given the numbers he has posted this season, it is hard to argue that he does not deserve to win the Cy Young Award.

While speaking about this in the clubhouse, he claimed it would be “really cool” to win this award this year.

It’s amazing. It’s amazing that I have an opportunity on both, so it’s really cool.

In MLB history, a total of 17 players have won both the World Series and the Cy Young Award in the same season. The last player to do so was Randy Johnson in 2001 when the Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series. So Misiorowski could end up joining an exclusive club.
