It was a make-or-break opportunity for Jade Cargill this past weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and she grabbed it with both arms. The former AEW star trumped Tiffany Stratton to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. It took her over two years to win her first singles title in the company, but better late than never. ‘The Storm’ later posted a heartfelt note for her heavenly mother.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Cargill told her “mama” that she made it. ‘The Storm’ hoped that would make not only her proud but also her granny and great-granny as well. Cargill wished all of them were alive to witness her journey. At last, the Atlanta Smoke owner jokingly addressed her mother’s previous concerns about her wrestling attire.

Cargill quipped that she still wrestles half-naked because that’s how it’s supposed to be for wrestling gear. The former AEW TBS Champion was in the doldrums when her mother unfortunately passed away in December 2023 due to cancer.
It came just a few months after Cargill had inked a multi-year deal with WWE. Every setback that crippled the 33-year-old in her grind to the top will now feel cathartic. Her victory over Tiffany Stratton on Saturday wasn’t hard to come by.

‘The Storm’ had already softened up the left knee of ‘The Buff Barbie’ and it turned out to be the Achilles heel. ‘Big Jade’ posted a series of reactions on X after her watershed achievement. She also received the nod from Triple H, who hailed the Floridian for her dominant display. The WWE CCO noted that Cargill has been unleashed. She quickly got back to ‘The Game’ and said that she’s just getting started.
WrestleMania 42 opponent pitched for Jade Cargill
Now that Jade Cargill is sitting at the tippy-top of the women’s division on SmackDown, it’d be interesting to see who dares to challenge her. While there are some certain dream matches that she could be involved in, former WWE star Matt Morgan has pitched an interesting storyline for Cargill that would steer her into next year’s WrestleMania.

The former mayor of Longwood took to X and extended his heartiest congratulations to ‘The Storm’ by adding that she’s worked incredibly hard to get to this position. Morgan then expressed the need for WWE to take a page out of Goldberg‘s undefeated WCW run, where he went 173-0 back in the day, and put her on a similar kind of run.

Morgan urged the company to book Cargill with that sort of dominance until someone like Rhea Ripley steps up to her, leading to a WrestleMania match between the two in 2026. This could be a fantastic matchup with both Ripley and Cargill being the absolute powerhouses they are. It just needs to be seen if this showdown is actually in the cards for WrestleMania in Las Vegas or not.
Jade Cargill posed with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Ricky Saints after Saturday Night’s Main Event
It was truly a night to remember for Jade Cargill at Saturday Night’s Main Event. She was one of the two women wrestling on the card. Moreover, after the show ended, ‘The Storm’ posed backstage for an epic picture with her male champion counterparts.

Cargill got to share the moment with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who retained his title against Drew McIntyre; with CM Punk, who beat Jey Uso to become the new World Heavyweight Champion; and also with her close friend and reigning NXT Champion, Ricky Saints. The most intriguing part of that photo was the fact that all four of them were a part of AEW at one point.

Seeing a championship around everyone’s waist, the fans on social media started tagging AEW CEO Tony Khan and trolled him for fumbling every wrestler pictured above. For the record, Cargill has never spoken ill of her humble beginnings in AEW, as it gave her the platform to hone her skills. With that in the rearview mirror, ‘The Storm’ is brimming with confidence to showcase how good she can be as a villain on WWE programming.
