Jakub Mensik wants to ‘measure’ himself against Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner as he explains why it’s ‘difficult’ to beat him

Jakub Mensik burst into the scene at the 2023 US Open when he was just 17, and there, he had reached the third round. And since then he has been a consistent performer on the ATP Tour.
And to compare his tennis, he chose none but the two youngsters, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner who have already established themselves as two of the best players of the game. He is set to lock horns with Alex de Minaur in the Rotterdam Open fourth round after knocking out Alexander Bublik. Following his win, he talked about his plans for this season.
I know my best weapon is my serve and if I can play with a high percentage of first serves, it is difficult to beat me. The main thing for me this year is to stay healthy because in 2024 I had elbow problems that hampered my progress. I would like to measure myself against Sinner and Alcaraz, I want to know where my level is compared to theirs.
Jakub Mensik said at the press conference
Mensik reached his first final at the Qatar Open last year, though Karen Khachanov beat him in straight sets. But due to his impressive performances, he qualified for the Next Gen ATP Finals and ended the season by winning the Newcomer of the Year title.
He started the 2025 season at the Brisbane International and progressed to the quarterfinals. Following another quarterfinal, at the ASB Classic, Mensik was defeated by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Australian Open third round.
Nicolas Escude calls Jannik Sinner better than Novak Djokovic
Nicolas Escude too, like several tennis pundits, compared Jannik Sinner‘s game to that of Novak Djokovic. The Frenchman, who is a former World No.17, explained that Sinner, a ‘modern version’ of the 24-time Grand Slam champion, has the tools to dominate the men’s game and is better than Djokovic in some areas of the game.
There are many similarities between them in the way they play, but you have to admit that Sinner has a better forehand than Djokovic and he also has more power from the baseline.

Sinner recently lifted his third Grand Slam title with a straight-set win over Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open. Though his initial plan was to participate at the Rotterdam Open, he chose to skip it to prioritize rest.
Djokovic suffered a hamstring injury at the Melbourne Slam and was forced to withdraw from the semifinal clash with Zverev. It’s unclear whether he could gain complete fitness to be back at the Qatar Open.
