The Minnesota Timberwolves faced off against the New York Knicks in their 3rd preseason matchup. However, it was the Knicks who came out victorious in a close-earned win by 115-110. Notably, this was not something that caught the attention. The main topic of interest was the exchange between the two sides after the game.
Particularly, the exchange between recently acquired Timberwolves star Donte DiVincenzo and Jalen Brunson’s father, Rick Brunson, caught the attention of the NBA community. For context, DiVincenzo was traded by the Knicks to the Timberwolves to acquire the latter’s star player, Karl-Anthony Towns. Interestingly, this led to heated exchanges between DiVincenzo and his former teammates.
Cameras saw Brunson Sr. and DiVincenzo chatting after the Knicks defeated the Wolves, and Brunson Sr. moved closer to DiVincenzo. It seemed as though players from both teams moved fast to separate them. What initiated the exchange and its nature are unclear. Given that, DiVincenzo showcased his class with a top performance against his former side.

He also reminded the Knicks bench during a free-throw play, stating, ‘That’s what happens when they let you run the show.’ This garnered widespread attention from the fans, as they took to social media to put forward their views. Hence, it will be interesting to watch how this story unfolds as the season begins, with both sides looking strong in their respective conferences.
Knicks head coach weighs in on Donte DiVincenzo and Rick Brunson’s heated exchange
Following a preseason game on Sunday, there looked to be a heated argument between Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo and assistant coach Rick Brunson of the New York Knicks. The two have known one another since DiVincenzo and Jalen Brunson were teammates at Villanova. That being said, the Knicks Head Coach, Tom Thibodeau, shared his views on this particular exchange.

It is seemingly clear that Thibodeau seemed to dismiss DiVincenzo and Brunson’s conversation. On the other hand, the Knicks’ roster looks strong going into the 2024-25 NBA season.

Most of their stars are fully fit and are raring to go after a resounding win against the Timberwolves.
