The relationship between Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni has been reported to have soured over the last season and after the team’s monumental collapse in the latter half of the season. While Hurts has not come out and denounced his head coach, his responses to questions regarding Sirianni’s leadership and about him, in general, give the impression that the quarterback is not completely okay with him.

In his most recent press conference, a reporter was on par to ask Jalen Hurts about his faith in Nick Sirianni, the quarterback wasted no time cutting him off before he could finish his question. At this point, the Philadelphia Eagles‘ QB understands what the media is looking for, ways to showcase that he is not on good terms with Sirianni.

Hurts opted to take a diplomatic approach and gave the most professional response.

Let me say this first, you know, you go through an off-season, put a lot of work in, all the things that we've been through last year, I know everybody is hungry... I know there's a ton of opportunity in front of us and I'm just excited to be back, excited to go through this journey and go through this season with everyone here...

Hurts acknowledged the disappointing end to the season that the Eagles suffered last year. However, he believes it has just motivated his entire squad to be hungrier to win and they have been working hard in the off-season towards doing right by their fans.

Jalen Hurts is not interested in pointing any fingers at Nick Sirianni

The star quarterback then proceeded to express his gratitude and faith to everyone in the top ranks of the Eagles management.

I truly trust Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie, I trust Howie (Roseman), I trust coach Sirianni to lead us in the right direction. I know that there are different roles in place, and everybody has different responsibilities. There may be more demands from some than others but I think to win championships, to be the team we want to be, everyone has to buy into their role and everyone has to be fully committed to doing their part and helping the team.

He made it clear that he has full faith in the team’s ownership, general manager, and head coach. Hurts concluded by stating that he is looking forward to being a leader and doing what is expected of him to lead the team to a championship.

Nick Sirianni put the rumors of tension between him and Hurts to rest after he acknowledged that he was in a good place with his quarterback. “Jalen and I, relationship is good.” The rumors of tension between the two began to surface after Philly lost six of their final seven games before facing an early exit from the playoffs in a brutal loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In addition to this, right after the conclusion of the 2023 season, Hurts was asked about how much faith he had in his head coach but he seemed hesitant in his response. There was another moment where Hurts offered a shaky response when he was asked about his thoughts on Nick Sirianni having more control over the defense and less on the offensive play-calling.

A report from The Athletic further fuelled the fire that all was not good between the two. However, Hurts’ latest response makes it clear that he has put aside all differences with his head coach and is willing to get on the same page with him to win.
