Jamahal Hill’s UFC 300 main event fight was nothing short of a nightmare for the fighter. The former light heavyweight champion was dropped in the fourth minute of his fight with Alex Pereira, failing to make it through a single round. This did not, however, discourage the fighter from challenging Jiri Prochazka.
In the aftermath of his UFC 300 defeat, Jamahal Hill finally spoke up. The fighter said that he never backed down from any title challenge and that he always accepted fights at short notice. Without wasting any more time, “Sweet Dreams” called out Jiri Prochazka for his next outing.
I dared to be great against adversity and against a great challenge and came up short at the highest level in the world!!! I answered the call twice on short notice to fight for a championship that most will never fight for!!! On to the next @jiri_bjp least final make it happen!!Jamahal Hill via X
Hill also took the opportunity to address the haters who made fun of him after the loss at UFC 300. The fighter revealed that he’s living his best life and is ready to take short-comings like this on the chin. He also claimed that all the criticism would be over once he knocked out Prochazka next.
Unlike Hill, Prochazka didn’t miss and made a massive statement by flooring his opponent Aleksandar Rakić in the second round. The ‘The Last Samurai’ took home the POTN award bonus and even called out Alex Pereira for the title shot.
Dana White reveals Alex Pereira’s toe injury two weeks ahead of Jamahal Hill’s fight
Alex Pereira’s performance against Jamahal Hill was a testament to his cold-blooded killer personality. The whole sequence from stopping Herb Dean from interfering to knocking out Hill, was an outrageous show of power and self-confidence. Moreover, according to the latest reports, the Brazilian came to the fight injured and still managed to pull out a flawless win.
After UFC 300, Dana White addressed the media and revealed that Pereira had broken his toe a few weeks before the bout.
You guys don't know this yet but I'll tell you. I just found out when I went up in the octagon because I saw [Pereira] messing around with his foot. He broke his toe two weeks ago. He fought tonight with a broken toe, I thought he broke his toe in the fight. His team was like, 'No he broke his toe two weeks ago.' He was like, 'I ain't losing this opportunity for a f***ing pinky toe.'Dana White via UFC post-fight press conference
White mentioned that ‘Poatan’ didn’t let his injury from taking part in the fight as he didn’t want to miss the opportunity like that. The UFC CEO was impressed by Pereira’s determination towards his fights. The light heavyweight division is filled with incredible fighters and fans are excited to see what the promotion has planned in the future.
