Jamahal Hill and Alex Pereira had one of the best showdown moments at UFC 300. Everybody saw Alex Pereira knocking Jamahal Hill down and follow it with ground and pound before Herb Dean called the fight. However, Hill made an interesting claim about being completely coherent throughout the fight. He talked about it in a recent interview on YouTube.
Jamahal Hill recently sat down for a conversation with James Lynch on the MiddleEasy YouTube channel. During the discussion, Hill claimed that he was completely conscious when going down from Pereira’s left hook and while he attacked him on the ground.
I wasn’t knocked out. I got hit with a good punch. Then I went down. I was defending, and then I got hit with some good follow-up shots, and knocked my equilibrium off. I was not unconscious at no point.Jamahal Hill via MiddleEasy
Hill and Pereira headlined the main event of UFC 300. It only lasted the first round. Three minutes into the fight, Hill hit a leg kick to the body that hit Pereira in the groin. Referee Herb Dean tried to intervene and call for a timeout but Pereira refused.
The next moment, Pereira hit Hill with a left hook that knocked him down. He then unloaded a few follow-up shots on the ground and the fight was over. Poatan is taking a break to recover from his injuries. Meanwhile, Hill landed his next fight against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 303.
How did Jamahal Hill land his fight against Khalil Rountree Jr.?
Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. will headline the co-main event at UFC 303. It is the same card that UFC star Conor McGregor will make his comeback fight against Michael Chandler. But how did Hill land this fight a week into coming off a loss?
He addressed this during the interview on MiddleEasy. Hill said he was ready to fight and a few days later he had a contract in his hand.
I went to them… Sunday I told my manager ‘I still feel good, I feel ready to slide back into a fight’. Monday I got on another call with him and he got on a call with Mick and by Tuesday had a contract on the way.
