Jamal Murray chooses his partnership with Nikola Jokic as the best in the league

Jamal Murray‘s bold claim that he and Nikola Jokic are the best duo in the league stems from their strong chemistry and on-court successes together. Despite other competitive duos in the league, Murray feels their partnership sets them apart.

From Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving, the league has an abundance of formidable duos. However, Nuggets star Jamal Murray still believes they are the best duo.

If you want me to rank where I believe, I think we’re the best duo. I think they’re in a bigger market, and people have more interest in LeBron and AD in LA, or what Dame and Giannis could be, or what Luka and Kyrie could do.

Nikola Jokic’s reputation as a star player was again demonstrated this season, with unstoppable performances and an impressive 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game on average to end the regular season. His impact on both ends of the floor is invaluable, and his dynamic playmaking ability, which has distinguished him as a leading force in the league.

Furthermore, Murray and the Joker have continuously contributed to the Nuggets’ success, which saw them take the second seed in the West. Murray’s ability to score, create chances, and knock down clutch shots this season, adding to his desire to succeed, has been instrumental to his team’s success.

Jamal Murray roots for team-mate Jokic for MVP

Nikola Jokic has a lot of other great players to contend with for the 2023-24 NBA MVP, with the likes of OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Mavs’ Luka Doncic. Still, Jamal Murray, aside from saying he and Jokic are the best duo in the league, went on to assert that no one comes close to Jokic for this year’s award.

I think everything speaks for itself. No case is stronger than Nikola's. I think it's as plain and simple as that. We're the best team in the league, and each season, his numbers get better and better. You can't say his numbers stink… I think there are a lot of great candidates. But no other case is bigger than Nikola's.

The Serbian is on course to join a rich list of legends who have won MVP 3+ times and continue the European/foreign players’ dominance in individual awards in the league.

Jokic successfully led the Nuggets to the joint-best record in the Western Conference, all while his attack partner, Murray, dealt with various injuries that limited his appearance to 59 games. However, he is back and ready to prove why he and the Joker are the scariest duo in the league as they attempt to reclaim their league crown.
