“Will never be an all-star caliber player!” Jamal Murray BRUTALLY criticized by ex-champion Kendrick Perkins
Kendrick Perkins provided an intriguing take regarding Nuggets star Jamal Murray and his potential to earn more accolades.
Kendrick Perkins and Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray was anticipated to enter the 2024–25 season with a point to prove after a dismal 2024 Olympic performance with Team Canada. He averaged just 6.0 across four games. However, Murray has made a poor start for his Nuggets side. In his side’s most recent matchup, the Canadian star failed to make an impact in the game.
Due to his poor performance, his teammate Nikola Jokic seemed to receive no support throughout the game. This resulted in a loss to the Nuggets. This led to former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins heavily criticizing the Canadian star. The retired star went ‘all-out’ on Murray on the latest episode of the “Playback” podcast.

Not only that, Perkins was also left unimpressed with Murray’s performance in the Nuggets’ season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team has endured a tough start to the campaign and Murray has yet to step up. This incident left Perkins mad at that time.

On the other hand, the Nuggets have won two games this season. That said, Jokic has so far this season averaged an incredible 31.5 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.3 assists. Unlike Murray, he has had to carry the majority of the team. All eyes will be on Murray going forward into the upcoming matches of the 2024-25 NBA season.
This is not the FIRST time Kendrick Perkins criticized Jamal Murray
After the first week of the season, Kendrick Perkins was candid about the Denver Nuggets’ chances of winning the championship. With a 2-3 record right out of the start, the Nuggets have endured some unusual performances thus far. He called out stars like Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. on the ESPN NBA Show.
"Does this Denver Nuggets team look like a Championship contender? Hell no. When is Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. going to take that leap to help Nikola Jokic…"

Jamal Murray hasn’t been his best self thus far this season. The standout point guard has shot 37.9% from the floor, averaging 18.8 points and just 5.0 assists. It will take a lot more than this if Murray and Co. plan to contend for the 2025 NBA title. Murray will have to prove himself this postseason in a bid to silence the critics and naysayers.
