The Cincinnati Bengals could have done the unthinkable on Sunday. Going into Arrowhead Stadium and coming away with a win against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs was on the cards.
Until lead wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase had a meltdown that brought out a penalty. Fans of the game, however, are poking fun at the Pro Bowler after efforts by Joe Burrow and HC Zac Taylor could not control him.
The aforementioned incident happened in the early minutes of the fourth quarter as Chase was stopped by Chiefs corner Trent McDuffie. The wideout thought it was a hip drop tackle and wanted a flag.
His demands turned into frustration with his choice of words to the referee, which brought out an ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’ penalty. Joe Burrow tried his best to stop him from making it worse. Then, when the field goal unit came out, he walked to the sidelines.
On his way, Ja’Marr Chase‘s outburst continued as he took his helmet off and slammed it on the gridiron. At that time, he was trying to argue his point with head coach Zac Taylor. When it dawned on him that his outburst had cost them, he looked to be in tears. But it was too late as that penalty helped the Chiefs who were staring at a possible loss.
That penalty stopped a drive which could have helped the Bengals make it possibly a seven-point game. That could have given them a better cushion and forced Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to take risks. Instead, they calmly went down the field, as they knew a field goal will be enough to seal the game.

Fans were frustrated that Ja’Marr Chase, who missed all of training camp, struggled against the Chiefs and had a disappointing night. His inability to break free led to growing frustrations, and many felt his actions contributed to the Bengals’ loss. When reality set in and Chase became emotional, many found it hard to sympathize, believing his missteps had cost the team.
