Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase says the Bengals-Chiefs rivalry gets so much attention because fans feel the players' passion.

Ja’Marr Chase only had 6 catches for 62 yards in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, but he prefers not to dwell on past games. His goal shifted to beating the Kansas City Chiefs as soon as the Cincinnati Bengals began to prepare their biggest foe.
It’s a fixture that every football fan waits for, no matter which team they support. There are always several storylines that develop before the matchup, but none more so than between Ja’Marr Chase and the Chiefs corners.
We don't like them... They don't like us.Ja’Marr Chase said on Thursday after the Bengals wrapped up their practice, according to Caleb Noe of WCPO.
Even though the Chiefs and Bengals reside in different divisions, they have faced each other five times in the last two seasons, including the playoffs. They all ended as one-point games, meaning a touchdown from the trailing team would have been enough to snatch a win in the closing stages.
The energy is already there. There’s not really much we gotta say now—to this point it has been four years now, so everyone gets it.Ja’Marr Chase added

Asked Ja’Marr Chase if “chirping” between the Bengals & Chiefs makes it more fun:
"In the game, yeah. When the media comes, y’all just blow it up … I just wait ‘til the game comes now. I’m 4 years in. I’m smarter than that now." pic.twitter.com/4ZgME45YgE
Despite the hype, Chase believes the media always sensationalizes these games more than they should.

Ja’Marr Chase turned down a massive contract offer from the Bengals
It’s not a secret that Chase wants to be the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Time and again, the 24-year-old drops hints about his perspective of being a better receiver than his former college teammate and Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson.
So far, the Bengals have managed to keep the negotiations under a tight leash, but according to Sports Illustrated, the latest offer from them was around $140 million over 4 years, which is $35 million annually. However, Chase turned them down.
It may be the same amount as Jefferson, but a careful study of the details makes sense as the reason behind the former first-round pick disagreeing to sign the deal. SI revealed that Chase did not like the structure of the deal, as the Bengals wanted to spread Chase’s pay through to 2027, but he wanted it sooner.

The Vikings guaranteed $88.74 million to Jefferson when he signed the new contract, giving him $36.8 million in 2024, which gradually decreases each year.
The Bengals usually follow the same path, paying the majority of the money to the players in the first year as signing bonuses. Yet Chase remains without an extension, and as things stand, the standoff might continue to drag on.
