It has been quite a few months for James Harden. After the Los Angeles Clippers decided to end their relationship with him, the superstar had to build his career again with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Over the course of the first few months there, he had to not only learn to play in head coach Kenny Atkinson‘s system, but he also had to adjust to a completely new team.

Eventually, they figured it out, and Harden’s playmaking was touted as one of the reasons the Cavs looked like legitimate contenders to win the East.

That is, until they ran into the New York Knicks, when coach Mike Brown and Jalen Brunson exposed the one thing the veteran superstar has always struggled to do: defend.

Since then, there have been calls for the team to get rid of the 36-year-old, and some even asked the team to stop giving him another massive extension.

All of that tends to impact the said player and the team. But it is not clear whether this was the reason James Harden was arrested. The Houston Police Department pulled him over for a traffic violation in Texas.

But during their search, they found a handgun placed on the front seat. Since it was not holstered, they charged him with a misdemeanor, and TMZ managed to get hold of his mugshot.

Fans troll James Harden’s mugshot

As soon as the picture started circulating online, basketball fans lost it. Not in an angry manner, as most of the reactions were of pure humor. Fans compared his mugshot to that of the late MMA star Kimbo Slice.

Others pointed out how this was another example of how bad James Harden’s year was going. Check out examples of those reactions below.

James Harden had to spend some time behind bars until he could be bailed. Since it was not a serious charge, the turnover-friendly guard was eventually going to get out.

James Harden pays a heavy price after arrest

TMZ managed to get further details on his eventual release. For someone who earned nearly $40 million from his NBA career alone last season, the $100 bond maybe nothing but pocket change. But the restrictions placed upon James Harden were a lot more serious.

His bond terms ban him from possessing any firearms, ammunition, or other weapons, and from using, possessing, or consuming any alcohol, controlled substance, dangerous drug, or marijuana unless prescribed by a doc. And, he must submit to random urinalysis.

TMZ revealed

This means that until his June 22 court hearing, the former league MVP will not be able to be around anything from the above.

For a player in his offseason, that could be a heavy price. If the hearing continues for an extended period , he could get frustrated. But since this was a minor misdemeanor, it is unlikely that this could become a serious problem for James Harden.
