Six months ago, the United States Southern District of New York launched a federal investigation into Vince McMahon and WWE. This came after Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a s*xual trafficking lawsuit against both McMahon and the company. As a result, the lawsuit was put on hold as a probe was launched into the defendants.
Recently, Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis, provided an update on the investigation and lawsuit. In a statement released, Callis revealed that the US Southern District for New York has allowed Grant to resume their civil lawsuit. As such, federal prosecutors will continue to investigate McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis while Grant proceeds with her civil charges. Furthermore, Callis said that they were looking forward to sharing more details about Grant’s story.
Back in January, Grant’s lawsuit shocked the wrestling world as it detailed horrific and graphic allegations against McMahon. Janel Grant accused the former WWE chairman of exploiting her on a near-daily basis. Moreover, Grant claimed that the company’s higher-ups and employees were aware of the abuse but helped McMahon cover it.

In response, McMahon’s attorney, Jessica Rosenberg, has released a statement on behalf of the former WWE owner:
Ms. Grant’s representative’s self-serving statement is, as usual, factually incorrect and intellectually dishonest.

As for Laurinaitis, the former Head of Talent Relations, he had allegedly also taken part in the heinous s*xual acts alongside Vince McMahon. After the filing of the lawsuit, Laurinaitis initially claimed he was a victim of McMahon’s abuse as well before backtracking months later. Meanwhile, the 79-year-old billionaire resigned from his positions in TKO after sponsors threatened to back out if the parent company didn’t take immediate action.
Can Vince McMahon return to WWE amidst ongoing s*x trafficking lawsuit?
Vince McMahon’s resignation in January wasn’t the first time he ‘retired’ from his roles in WWE. In July 2022, McMahon had similarly stepped down after the hush money scandals came to light. However, the billionaire unsurprisingly returned to the company six months later.

Despite the board of directors initially unanimously voting to keep him out, McMahon forced his way back in. The former WWE Champion cited the sale of the company as the reason behind coming back. Therefore, there has been speculation on whether McMahon can return this time or not.
Regardless of the outcome of the ongoing federal investigation and lawsuit, McMahon will not return to WWE. Unlike last time, McMahon is not a majority shareholder, as WWE is now an entity of the Endeavor Group after having merged with UFC.
TKO executives wouldn’t want McMahon back in the promotion as they now understand the potential risks of having him around. With that said, this is a major reason why McMahon has reportedly been working on starting his own entertainment company.
